Since 2005, the Museum of the University of Alicante has exhibited its collection organized by their themes, techniques or educational nature. Some of the topics approached are the diversity in contemporary art, work on paper, photography, the concept of home, social criticism, landscapes, artistic processes or colour.

The theme selected for academic year 20/21 has been the body, not only approaching it from an anatomic point of view, but in a complex and varied way. The artists of this exhibition reflect on the diversity of aspects, such as identity, self-representation, social exclusion, invisibility, gender, impositions set by religion, society, ethnicity or beauty, alterity, difference, integration, acceptance,…

Ultimately, it displays the work of 17 artists who employ a diverse range of techniques from analogue photography and digital art, to engraving, painting, sculpture, threading, video or animation. It is through these 17 different gazes where the body is imagined, fragmented, symbolic, diverse, built, hurt, migrant… that we are able to start a journey towards self-knowledge, assertion, respect and/or social integration.
